My URL was added to a directory that uses a redirect script to track click throughs to the links. The odd thing is, the redirect url for my site is now listed in Google and is showing in the serps for some of my search terms (with my title/description). Will Google penalize me for this? I emailed the webmaster and they claim it will not hurt me. I have seen many directories use redirect scripts, but I have never seen the redirect url appear in the Google serps.

Thanks for any information you guys may have.

Redirect Script from Some Directory is Safe.

No Worry about that, Except your site Redirects By MetaRefresh:

It happens all the time. Google is very bad when it comes to recognizing that it has been redirected to a new site.

It doesn't cause any problems as far as a penalty goes.

This happened recently to me. I emailed search-quality@google.com to tell them that someone else's site URL was listed in the search results, showing my title. It would redirect to my page if you clicked it. The Google cache for that site held a copy of an older version of my page. Weird.

Here's the interesting part. My page had PR0 or PR1 (despite DMOZ and other good links). Well, the next day, after emailing Google, my page PR increased to PR5. I guess they re-set something... Maybe I was the victim of some kind of perceived duplicate content penalty.(?)

Anyway, the Search results haven't changed yet, but hopefully they will after the next update.

(Now if only my other pages would get reset.. or I'm hoping other penalities or filter-effects will expire with the Sept update.)
