does the backlink to a sub-page (like domain.com/abc/page.html) affect the whole domain's pr (domain.com/) or just the pr of this special page?

Page Rank is for the individual page, and so are links. You can click on the link to the Library for this forum and find some select information that's excellent. For starters, feast your eyes on the Google Knowledge Base, it's a real treat.
