Hi folks,

our server was hit by the first bot of google yesterday. After a few minutes another access to the site took place with:

user agent:PHP/4.1.2 - from IP: 64.23.0.246

The IP seems to belong to SKYWEB, whoever that is?
A webserver does not run on that number.

Could that be a control spider run for spammers?

this comes from a PHP-Script. i don't think that google uses PHP for it's spiders.

@night_hawk:
64.68.82.* is google, definitly.

@srmpf:

I know that this is a PHP script accessing the pages, but the question is: why and who is it?

I relate that to Google because of the narrow time frame the google bot and that script came to the same pages...

Anyone else hit by these IPs and Google in the same 10 minutes?

regards,
p

Not sure on the .0's - haven't seen that one, yet. The .82's are definitely Google - it looks like they've doubled the amount of crawlers out there. I discovered this last night, but haven't had enough time to really go into it. My scan results are here [webmasterworld.com].

pontifex: sorry for the confusion ;) the only thing i wanted to mention is that PHP is definetly not the language to program a web webcrawler.

From Skynetweb.com:

for me this looks for a web application. btw. there is a webserver running on 64.23.0.246. but i think this is an IP for a dedicated server with more than one website on it.
