Google Preferences 10 -100 results, different positions

Is it normal that if you have Google show 10 results, you get different positioning than showing 100 results. Our main keyword search shows us in 3rd place if the preference is set for 10 results per page, however, if we set the preference for 100 results per page then our site drops to 5th.

The dance aint over yet. You will more than likely get different results no matter what you do right now. You might try a site search I remember this beind discussed before but dont think it really came out as that being the case.

This is apparently normal whether it's dance time or not. I asked this question last month and it was pointed out that when you set your preferences to display more results, you often see more than one url for each site.

The majority of searchers use google without changing their preferences, so I'd say you're pretty safe just focusing on your position with your prefs set to display 10 results per page.
