How long does it usually takes to google or any other directory that uses ODP information to update their directory listings? Anyone?

It ususaly takes about 5-7 days after the update to show a stable directory update, when it comes to other sites, they can update their listing almost real time, because ODP provides a dump of the listings that anyone can download and use.

The ODP data is collated into an RDF dump, once per week. However several times recently this process did not complete. It is totally out of ODPs control as to who downloads the RDF data or how often they may do it. Google usually collects the data approximately monthly, though sometimes there are longer gaps. There are some sites out there that are still using two, or three, year old RDF dumps which they have never updated. There is a section within ODP for 'sites using ODP data'. Reference to that secion should be quite enlightening.

Seems to take much longer. This thread interested me when it started because my profile site had been included in dmoz five days earlier. It has been three weeks and google has not updated the category yet.

vik_c you will most likely see it just before for next Google Dance.
Over the past 5 months Google has updated the directory just prior to WWW2, or WWW3 becoming WWW.

Thanks fathom. I notice all dmoz sites aren't included in the google directory. Are they chosen based on google ranking?

All sites (links) will be included, just may not have been picked up yet.
