Hi, I have two web sites on the same server with the same IP address. These web sites have totally unrelated url's, design and content. Site "A" is my main site and I use site "B" for external links to site "A". Site "B" has about 100 pages and every page has a link to site "A".

Would any of you consider this risky in relation to google. So far it hasnt produced any problems, but with future google algo changes who knows.

Hi Mike. If it's just two domains then most of us here wouldn't be too concerned.

Where someone has a network of links that look like spam to Google, then I'm not aware that using different IPs will offer any protection.

thanks for the reply, does linking on every page of a web site to another having any adavantage over just linking from the homepage.

I wouldn't worry about linking between sites if they all have unique content. My 4 main competitors all interlink about 40 sites on the front pages of all their domains and they are all in the top 10 and have been forever.

So long as these sites aren't just duplicate content, I can't see this being an issue. It isn't that odd in 2002 for a person to have a grand total of 2 domains, and people naturally link to their other sites. Google would end up squishing *tons* of sites if they started considering something this common spam.

Then they have been very lucky. This is a great way to get kicked from Google.

There shouldn't be anything wrong with that. As long as it appears so be an independent site to Google they can't punish you, because it could always be a competitor putting up that page to hurt your PR.
