Question about updating pages

Do frequent updates encourage frequent crawls?

I've read places that updating your page with new text daily will increase your chances of getting crawled more frequently.

Is this true?

And if so, will adding a random text script have the same effect?
The random text would of course relate to the content of the site and could offer daily advice, facts etc.

Thx

I think google is still experimenting to come up with the best balance.

The two things the would be most likely to consider are:

1) How high is your PR?
2) How often do you update your content?

While I can't guarantee they will be more likely to visit you more often, by using the WWGD priniciple - I would say yes to the first question.

The second question I am not sure - probably if you used SSI - and it was a big enough change.

However, unless you REALLY need to be crawled more often - I wouldn't bother with it. Google will crawl you when they feel like it - and it should be often enough for almost everyone.

From what I've experienced and seen unless you're a PR6, it's not very likely...

Thanks for the replies,

My main site is only a PR3 and is rarely updated, but it's a lot of the sub pages within this site with PR2's that I'd like to have crawled more as they have yet to be indexed after 2 months of being online.

Also, maybe I should know this but what is WWGD?

:)
