Big sites with surprisingly poor PR

Have you noticed any? I was shocked to find out LL Bean has a PR of 3, Dell has 0.

Dell had pr 5 when I looked...They always shift around about now, so i'm sure it'll go back

Dell redicrects to a new page not in the index yet. Google bar goes beserk on full moons because most engineers working at the google plex mutates then. :)

LLBean also redirects to a dynamically created page. I got a gray toolbar, not PR3, until I went off the page and "back arrowed" back to it, which makes me think that the 3 on the toolbar isn't accurate anyway.

So you never see their real root "home page," where most of the backward links point, so there's no way to know that the PR of that page would be.

[Edit: Yeah, Jeremy, I know. But since you'd already commented on what I'd actually written, it didn't seem right to come back and edit it out!]

Actually, it's easy enough to see the PR of LLBean, just the way Brett did it with Dell:

Well yeah, obviously "no way" wasn't right. Let's replace "there's no way to know..." with "you are not seeing..." And while we're at it, replace my typo "that" with "what." And add that it's not really surprisingly high, with "about 2970" linking pages [google.com].

By surprisingly high - i meant that it's kind of amazing that so many people would link to them.

But then again, seems most larger corporations / mail order companies / retailers PR is in that range too.

Every time I've seen that a site that redirects to a deeper page, the PR is higher than my guess would be. I believe it hurts a site a lot though to have the site redirect from the home page like that...it makes no sense at all to me. Unless they're cloaking of course :)

Yeah I agree, it's not the best approach from an seo/PageRank standpoint. We could assume, then, that either they have other priorities in mind or that they need some seo help...

(And yeah, I knew about being able to edit. But since I was going to write another post anyway, it seemed that it'd leave the thread more easy to follow for anyone reading it if I didn't remove what you'd commented on... and it seemed like a more interesting approach!)
