how to know your site is pr1 2 3 4 5

everybody seems to know around here...

i read a few messages, and saw that people are writing things like:

pr1 = 0 to 100 linkback's
pr2= 100 to 300 linkback's

How can i tell wat pr my site has?

what i noticed that if you type your domein in the search without the www you get sites (most of them) that link to you

Even I can answer this one! You need to get the google toolbar to see your PR. The PR meter has a green line in it, and if you hover your mouse over it you should get a tooltip showing your PR as a number, ie. PR4

Not sure where you got the specs for pr1 and pr2. Definitely not accurate though. Your page rank has a lot to do with the page rank of the page linking to you.

delta kits is right. PR is based on the number of link backs to a page for sure, but each link back has different values for PR. A yahoo link for example is worth much more than a link back from a small site with limited link backs to it itself.

You really only need one link from a page with say PR7 to get a PR6 sutomatically, or at least that is our experience. Its quality, not quantity.

I've been banking on that theory for the last year, and have built myself a surefire dedicated pr7 inward link, to distribute around the sites, that i am building at the moment.

caine.. yes we use that too, though my feeling is it makes gaining PR (for what its worth as i know inward hyperlink text is much more important for keyword optimization and ranking as a whole), too easy.

I expect Google will be continually revising their algos, and dont expect this strategy to work for the long term!

I hope that it hangs around for a while so that i can fully exploit it as the last time i used it, it worked perfectly with Google (one of customer site). Now i'm starting to feel a little nervous. Need to get the sites built.

It means your PR is 5 out of 10, which is pretty average

All depends on your competion. Type your best keyword and look at your competitors PR.

If they are all 7 on first page, you have a very steep slope to climb. If they are all 4 your the king of the mountain!
