well, i got my site running and listed in google, the pr is ok and from directory.google.com i recieve few hits but not much.
i have good keywords which suite to my site but when i enter some of them, i am not good listed or sometimes i am even not listed with this keyword(s)
so can someone give me a hint of what to do that i will be listed with all keywords i use in meta tags??

i dont want to be listed as #1 i just want to be listed somewhere on first lets say 5-10 pages.

does the revisit after 1 day meta tag help me with this or what do i have to look at? the links??

well, please give me some little tips.

>i dont want to be listed as #1

Sure you do! :)

Welcome to WebmasterWorld. The best way to learn how to rank better in Google is to read the Google forum. You can learn a lot about the search engine by reading the huge Google FAQ [webmasterworld.com].

Welcome! I discovered WebmasterWorld a few months ago and have learned immensely. As JamesR says, the more you read the more you will learn. But it takes time!

In addition to the FAQ you should check out Brett's notes on how to have a Successful Site in 12 Months with Google Alone [webmasterworld.com]. Note from the title of the post that it takes time!

Let me suggest that you may need links, a vital part of the Google system for ranking search results. The directories, specially Yahoo! and DMOZ.org, are a good place to start.

itsme, is it a small product site, or a big site? That makes a difference.

It'sME: I forgot to say that adding the URL of your site to your profile will allow people to see your site and make more relevant suggestions.

well, thanky for welcoming me,
hi @ everyone.

basicly my website is an smal website with freeware files for photoshop. i provide brushes, layerstyles, shapes, actions and plugins, tutorials will come in html, pdf and avi format, i have a forum and some graphic work, a large graffiti archive (500 pics)
some costumers graphics and webdesign stuff.
i develope logos for companies or do their websites.

i have around 250 to 300 visitors each day.

and no, i definitively do not want to be #1 in search engines because there is no sense because i dont sell stuff on my site. well, # 8 to 10 would be cool

--> yours itsme

Keywords in your site title would help a LOT, preferably at the very beginning. Most of those metatags you can lose, all except keywords and description. You also need to have keywords in your description, for other bots. Your main page is very lacking in body text, so someone here might be able to help you better with the body. Only way I know is to have a lot of text with decent keyword density.

Also, quality inbound links would be great! It shows you have 6, which leaves a lot of room for improvement. :)

Anyone else?
