Directory Listing in Regions

Will this help my PR at all?

Hi all,

I was very recently listed in the regional shopping section of DMOZ under the town near me. I am very happy about this because I have been feeling very rejected by the directory for several months. I was pleased to find the resource-zone forums and a very nice editor submitted my listing to the Regional section. It only took a day to get listed there.

However, being the greedy webmaster I am, I noticed this morning that the directory page I am listed on has a PR of 2 and the category I originally submitted to has a PR of 6.

Questions for the smart people in the room:
1) Are directory listing in higher level categories more beneficial to one's PR?
2) Does a listing in a low level category do any good at all?
3) Does having one listing in a regional category hurt my chances of being listed in the category of my dreams?

My shop, afterall, is virtual. I work out of my house and only sell online. We offer four very unique products that are hard to find elsewhere.

Sincerely,
Brina Jannenga

Brinaf, welcome to WebmasterWorld! Every link you can get helps even the lower ones.

1)Yes they are because they have a higher PR.
2)Yes they do as I said all links are good (excluding PR0 peniltied sites)
3)No it should not hurt your chances. The only thing that will hurt your chances it not submitting it to the correct cat.

ps. You might want to remove your URL from you sig thats not allowed here.
