2 company urls with same number of links

How is this possible?

This might be a very obvious Q but I'm stuck.

I have a client with the following urls: www.companyname.com and www.company-name.com both of which point to different (although very close) IPs

Google is showing both urls as having 8,040 inbound links. The links look the same. How is this possible? Various sites would normally only use www.companyname.com when linking to my client so why does the other domain have an identical number?

johnser, fortunately for you Google has identified the duplicate content and merged the listings.

If you check the Google cache for each, you'll see the same URL listed for both.
