I used to get heaps of hits from Google until recently. Someone said, 'get on to DMOZ and get even more hits.' So I did, and in due time my DMOZ listing appeared in Google's directory. Joyfully I entered the keywords expecting to see my URL up front where it used to be, plus its new improved description. But no such luck - no, not in 20,000 matches.

'Where? What? How?' I said, pulling at my hair and shaking the computer monitor. Then I noticed that my listing in Google's directory did not have a little green line like the others.

'PR' someone said. 'Google rates you zero out of ten.' I felt like I did 35 years ago after my School Cert maths exam.

Tell me someone: Why has Google shot me? Do they come back again? Will they relent and give me even 1?

Could be many reasons, try searching for 'PR0' on site search...if your lucky Google might just have missed your site this Update, wait until the next update before you panic too much.

Welcome, Gideon. The directory PR sometimes lags the PR in the search index, so if you haven't done so already install the Google toolbar and check your "live" PR. (Note that the toolbar is a form of spyware, albeit mostly benign, so you may want to use it cautiously.)

As dazz suggests, you should wait for the next Google update before worrying. Unless, that is, you have reason to believe you might qualify for a ban.

A temporary server problem when Google came to visit is enough to leave you out of the index for a cycle (usually about four weeks).

Thanks guys. I probably was panicing a bit. Yes, I've loaded the the toolbar so lets wait and see. In the meanwhile these little experiences serve to help us learn. Ta.
