Is a non- HREF link valuable for PR

Does Google pattern match or does it have to be an HTML tag?

If google runs across a non-clickable link which is a full URL, does it recognize it as a URL and therefore boost PR? Or does it simlpy eat it as regular copy?

I think it just treats it as regular copy, try searching for spammer.com and you'll see hundreds (814 for me) of places that contain the text but their are no links listed and it only has a page rank of 3 (and I think that's a virtual page rank inherited from webdoctor.com, where the site is being held for sale).

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but if it isn't clickable is it really a link?

I think you have hit the nail on the head jaytierney

A URL in a hyperlink is a piece of code that with a click or whatever will LINK you to a site.

A URL just typed on a page is just that - a URL.

First one counts. Second one doesn't.
