Hi
I have just noticed that if you press the 'cached' link on the serps it sometimes says something like:
"These terms only appear in links pointing to this page: jobs uk"

Or it may highlight a part of the search term and also say the above.

Is this new?

Nope-quite old.

I saw the same thing on several of my backward link searches.

It will also do it if the terms are in the alt text of an image on the page (can't highlight that).

I think there are some other possibilities as well, for example, the word only appears in the <title> tag.

Thanks
I noticed it when I was checking on a position 1 site, with no mention of the search term in the text. Just goes to show how important anchor text is!.......and domain name!

MHes, tack on an ODP listing, and there can be a #1 ranking with "untitled" as the page title and "coming soon" as the page text with nothing else. It's mind-boggling, I'm still in wonderment over it.
