One site in the top ten for over a YEAR went from #5 to #614. Whoa...
No penalties apparent, PR6, lots of links. Gosh. Something major changed in the web results section. The position is still identical in the directory search but.. WOW. I am in shock.
Any clues? <pout>just in time for all that "quality" AOL traffic...</pout>
Happy Birthday to me... SLAM. Ouch.

Well if nothings changed on the site the only thing I could think of is was the server down?
Have you changed hosting companies?

Other than that I'll have to pass

Nope. Site never went down. I just did a little quick analysis, and it appears that there has been more weight placed on the on-page criteria, and they raised the bar a bit more on referring page importance. The same page that was high ranked for that phrase, has appeared much higher for a different phrase, but still low. Time to tweak....

Anyone else see anything?

>#5 to #614

Is it a very competitive keyword?

yup. 3.8 million pages.
Funny, using quotes,( "search term" ) its in the exact former #5 position - with less than 300k pages.

Are we not using exact phrase matching this month?? Oy, I don't have time for this...
