Hi guys, firstly may I commend all of you on a most informative forum..
*thats enougth of the praise*

My company has ~15 domain names with identical content except different keywords, and a different site/domain refferenced within the content.

Will google pick up on this ? My general feeling is that promoting one domain is the best option, but a huge increase in click-thru's was gained by having positions 1 - 14 secured under our chosen keywords..

I know many of you would consider this to be spam, but, well yes it is. But someone has to pay the wages...

So what do you guys think ? Perhaps keep the 15 domain for Inktomi driven SE's and use ONE for all the others ?

Look forward to your replys...

Best Regards.

Welcome to the forum!

<<Perhaps keep the 15 domain(s) for Inktomi driven SE's and use ONE for all the others ?>>

Sounds good to me...Google will hate you for it...so I suggest some programming to keep google out of those 'extra' domains.

Personally I prefer each domain to have it's own unique content. (That way you cover all bases.)

yeah.. thats what I thought.. nice Idea while it worked.. All we had to do was buy a domain, point at the server, and the coding would do the rest.. back to the drawing board..

Would people recommend starting affresh with a new domain ? or just modify the others ?

Depends on how long you have had these 15 domains. If they are all new and have never been indexed by google, then put up a robots.txt quick! to keep googlebot out while you create new and unique content for all of them.

If they are older and google has already found them you might have to start with new domains to get rid of a penalty or ban.
