Bad idea, forget it. Linkfarms are a cause for being banned from Google.

Better to go about getting good quality links from other sites based on your excellent content.

The linkfarm is out near Paris, Texas.

On the linkfarm you can watch your dog run away for 3 hours.

<what the hell is happening to me?!>

;)

Don't: Participate in link exchanges for the sole purpose of increasing your ranking in search engines.

Quote from Google's Webmaster Dos and Don'ts. [google.ca]

I believe some red flags are raised from the bots,(and possibly a couple of piggies) then some humans check it and maintain a black list.

Hi all!

My site is linked to by a bunch of different sites in a link exchange. I do NOT link to the exchange, and have asked them repeatedly to not link to me. Do you think Google might ban me because of it???

Thanks!

I think if you dont link back to them you are OK. Else, it would be too easy to get hurt from mischivious competion [webmasterworld.com].

If you have few extra $$ then go ahead and try your luck. Generally, it shouldn't work but... just try ;)

kch333, save yourself the trouble and don't go down that path. Read all the posts here for a while, take them with a grain of salt, and then decide the best way to make a good site that attracts users on its own. Doing things the other way around can lead to stress and heartbreak. :)

Okay, stress i can see ... but heartbreak? hmm, if getting dropped from Google causes feelings similar to getting dumped on the night of the prom then perhaps you are taking SEO just a tad too serious?

And no, I did not get dumped on the night of the prom. I was sick that night. Honest.
