I read the messages and thought the redirection from google.com to google.nl I have experienced on my desktop and laptop computers for the past week was explained, because I changed ISP to Pipex Xtreme DSL last week. I concluded that Google was misidentifying my new IP address as Dutch (though there doesn't seem to be any way of correcting this error?)

Now I have realised that when I connect my laptop to the internet through an ethernet point in my university library, I still have the same problem, also dating from a week ago. How can this be explained?

calm down everybody

just imagine, that 95% of the internet population is NOT optimizing their life for Google. I fully support the techniques and ways Google drives the business now.

See, that google is surviving a tough time in the Internet business, right now, right here... over 40,000 internet companies went out of business in the last 6 month. They have to focus on cash.

Set a bookmark to the none-directing pages, enable cookies or just ask GG to enhance to toolbar with a "preference field for language/country combinations".

My dad is a typical 60s with NO idea of computers... first month on the net: Google.com bumbs him to Google.de, now he is happy ;)

Everybody in this forum should be able to handle bookmarks, right?

Just my 2 cents,

Peace!

I don't get it. I just typed google.com, expecting to get redirected to google.ch and then was very surprised to be on...google.com. I'm certain that up to yesterday I got redirected (same computer, same IP, etc.).

So, do they delete the redirect from time to time to confuse us???
