Hello Fellow Internet Junkies

I am new to this Page Rank business but I have done the basics-I have downloaded the toolbar and checked that our web site has a page rank of 6/10.
Is this good? and furthermore when can you say that your web site is really making it-perhaps when it has a PR of 8 or 9?
what is the standard and is there a standard?

I know-a lot of questions but any answereds would be a great help

A good PR is anything higher than your competitors. A bad PR is anything lower than your competitors.

If you want to be listed well for something fairly obscure then PR3 may be plenty (with well made pages and goof link text), but if you want to be listed well for something highly competitive then PR9 may not be enough.

I think a PR of 6 is a very good PR. But a PR of 4 is also good.
I had success whilst having a PR of 4 (many #1 positions) and I had many competitors. With a PR of 6 you'll have an awesome base of getting good results with it, depending on your content of course ;)

I have a PR6 on my site but so does the #1 listed result on a search of "genealogy lookups". Yet my page doesn't show up in the listing till several result pages down. There are PR4's that are above me. I haven't done any kind of Google-hated ranking techniques. Last week I was in the #1 position. What gives?

The confusing thing is that when you search for our web site in Google it is not found directly-it is only found through affiliate web sites.
Lest it be I am relatively new to the infinite knowledge on the SE world
