Has anyone noticed how google is limited in the results it generates

Has anyone ever tried to obtain more 1000 results .. Its impossible!!

Sure google says "Disaplaying 901 - 951 of about 2,700,000,000" for the search term "the", but just try and display the 1,000,000 th result, google wonīt allow you .. only 1000 get returned

Now while nobody will ever need more than 1,000 -- you never know!! I was looking for something past the 1000th result..

Whats up with this???

They will only generate 1000 results otherwise it would take to much space on their servers, and they would have to generate all the results which would take much longer time, than it does to generate the first 1000, and i donīt think there is many people who go longer than 1000 results.

The thing I wanna know is though, Why only return 1000 if they claim to have search through billions??

I think they are just leting you know how popular your search terms were. I think it is a rare searcher who makes it to 500 let alone 1000. It would be a waste of resources to make all listing searchable after a 1000.

the ones at the bottom of the pile are potential clients!!

what is the largest number of results ever returned for google and what was the search term? a search on 'the' generates 2,360,000,000 pages.

Well it doesnt actually return 2,370,000,000 results ... its says it just but you just try and see whats number 2,370,000,000 .. It will only let you go up to 1000.

Fair enough, like I said, not many people use more than 1000 . but why even bother have 2,700,000,000 pages searched if only 1000 gets returned.

In contrast, for the search term "the" about only .0000003 % of the pages get returned if the max is 1000. Seems to me a lot like using a plane to go to work if work is only 5 mins away!!

Because they are indexing ALL the data they can get their bots on in hopes of returning the most relevant data. In essence, they are saying that they've indexed all 2 billion pages and are returning the results in the most relevant order. After 1000 results how relevant will the results be? :)

I rarely have to search past the top thirty, let alone the top 500. If my clients aren't in the top ten, I still have work to do.
