Just wondering has anyone used the sposored link on google at the the top of the page? I was wondering about it's effectiveness compared to add words ? And what is the cost?

Not sure about its effectiveness but it costs a minimum of $10,000 for 3 months. Did you check [google.com...] ?

just saw a competitor on there and there is no way he has that sort of cash "$10,000 for 3 months." ? Weird he was there and then he disappeared.

If all the available inventory for the premium sponsor positions isn't sold, Google has been known to rotate AdWords into the empty spots.

Crush,

I think your competitor has very high CTR/CPC metrics for his adwords. Such ads are sometimes pushed into $10000/3 months (minimum - please note!) sponsored links.

Either that or your competitor has won a $1 million lotto!

Adding to this question...

Can anyone tell me how much traffic I can expect for my $3,000 per month investment? Obviously this will vary based on the keywords you target, but does Google charge by CPC, CPM, or simply "you get the placement and get whatever traffic you can" ???

Has anyone tried this? How many clicks did you get? What is a reasonable amount to expect for a relatively popular keyword search?

I use Google Sponsored listings for a number of campaigns, minimum ad spend is £3,000 per campaign.

You should be looking to pay between £30-£50 (CPM) and expect click throughs of 0% > 20% depending on your product/creative etc.

I can honestly say it is by far the BEST investment I have EVER made on the www.

Another annoying thing.

During the rotation on addwords when my competitor is not at the top in the sponored link he appears above me in normal addwords. This is seriously annoying me. I have the top 3 spots for my favourite keywords, so I guess I am going to get the clicks anyway :)) but "Crush" would like to crush the competition!!

So how do I dominate that top addwords spot?

Hello Crush

Try clicking on your own ad a few times to put up your click-through stats. If you have money to burn of course.
