Is Google search appliance any good ?

I mean Google's relevancy comes from PageRank - but corporate mess of documents in any given company is not the same thing as WWW.
On the web, if YOUR site is not found in the index - no bid deal for the user; not the case for an employee of a corporation.

Also, most of the documents are not linked to each-other (most of them don't even have linking capability) so the PageRank does not even apply.

So is Google just trying to sell something by using their name or is the appliance really worth it ?

Thanks.

Whenever I think of Google being used internally, I have this vision of SEO experts in each division competing to get their parts of the intranet to rank well for key search terms. Do the marketing team's pages rank above those of the engineering team's for particular product searches?

BCC, it seems to me that seriously interested parties can obtain references on the Appliance from Google's sales people.

Danny I have visions of that too...

A massive seo battle being waged between sales and marketing. The marketing department claim sales are using spamming tactics and are a bit miffed when their new homeage gets a PR0 in the comapany intranet :)
