double internal links?

on many of my pages i have two links going to some internal pages..where i have the main nav bar and then text with a link repeated where it becomes relevant...is this bad in the eyes of google?

I don't think so I've got a similar layout on my site and google seems happy with that, just don't go to mad linking internal pages

whats the state of play regards site maps?...a link to a site map from my index page would that get everything spidered? and pages linked from site maps but not from any other page...is that aceptable?

To the best of my knowledge, the sitemap approach as you describe it is fine.

THANKS....because i saw some poeple were saying that google wasnt cacheing the site map anymore..but it was following it...from an OPTIMIZING point of view....it leaves the door open to multiple similar but different pages used for keyword density...thse would be indexed and lead back to a home page but a visitor would be unaware of any page he hadnt entered by...any problems here?...just out of curiosity?

Good question, soapystar. I don't know anyone who's measured that yet.

I've started killing the navbar from home pages (I hate those things anyway) just in case they dilute the anchor text weighting.
