I work for a company that offers SEO, and some of the sites we develop are not kept with seo in mind. Now when text is picked up through a menu bar which I do not want to happen because thats irrelavent to what text i want displayed to help bump the rank. Now to rectify this can I put in a div tag before the menu so I can have the site description come up before the spider will take the text from the menu bar? I am not stuffing the hidden div tag with clutter... just the fact... lemme know guys!

The gain of the higher text on the page is negligible. You could do more with just 2-3 more inbound links from pr5's and higher. I don't think that type of micro optimization does much good over the long haul. Do whats best for your visitors first and then go chase links.
