PageRank of An Authority Aite In a Small Niche

If I have a site who is the only credible site on a very small niche (meaning, its not possible to have that many inbound links, just a few, but the site content is good and is really an authority on the subject), how much PR can I expect to get from Google?

If Google PR is based primarily on the number of inbound links, then good, even excellent, small niche sites are doomed to low-PR oblivion.

I have a similar situation, and I came to the same conclusion as you. I would love to see somebody shed light on this problem.

If Google PR is based primarily on the number of inbound links

pr is based entirely on incoming links (the number of and the differing relative value of)

but pr is important only relative to your niche... you don't need a pr9 to compete in a niche where the highest pr sites are only pr4 or 5

I recently uploaded 14 new sites in November, each trade widget specific, with only one incoming link from an authority site and three outgoing links, two authority and one reference site, Wikipedia if you're wondering.

Each site was only one single page, admitedly a very good widget specific technical page.

This was done deliberately to test the sandbox theory and see exactly how they would rank and appear as well as to prepare them for their full trade widget launch this next month.

Every site is now indexed and displayed with a PR3 and nearly all sites are #1 for the keywords targeted in Google, Yahoo!, MSN, MSN Beta and I've just checked and they're already there at, or near the top, in Gigablast.

Good relevant widget content will get you to the top and stop worrying about PR, most believe this has nothing to do with Google reality any more. I've never bothered about it and just got on with doing my job correctly.

5 of my sites went to PR 0 but my income went up. Since there's no apparent tie-in to money, why worry about it anymore?
