I just did a link:www.mysite.com search and spotted a very unusual result. Apparently one of my competitors (a large reputable company) has a link on their home page to one of my sites.
No link is visible and I found it in a area of the code of their home page. Now the plot thickens because it turns out that they have grabbed every one of the links from the home page of another of my sites and have placed them into the noscript area of their home page. So now I have a major blue chip compatitor that has links to all of the key pages on my main web site and links to all of the external pages that I link to on my home page on their home page. I guess that they think that this will help them to improve their ranking because my site has been at #1 for ages exc the Florida hiatus.
I don't see how this could do me anything but good however I would appreciate other folks comments. If this is identified as spam by Google who will get affected by any action taken, the competitor or my site.
Should I try to take any action or is it best to let sleeping dogs lie?
Best wishes
Sid
