Having just got a few links from relevant sites with reasonable PR I'm wondering how quickly Google will see these.

The problem is that the sites are from businesses that have not changed their sites for some anything from 3 months to 3 years.

Does anyone have sites that have been the same for anything in this range of time? If so, how often does googlebot come back to these sites?

I would imagine it is monthly for even sites that haven't been updated in a while, am I wrong?

Some people say that a regularly updated page is visited more often by Googlebot and also tend to perform better. In my (not hugely competitive) area, I've seen no evidence of a relationship between crawl frequency and SERPS performance, though others may say different. I see some really old pages (last updated 1996 - 1998) that do very well, presumably because of their incoming links.

If the business site pages you're talking about have good PR, that might suggest they have reasonable incoming links and that they get crawled pretty often, maybe daily, especially if they're in the site's root folder or close to it. Obviously this won't necessarily be the same as the frequency with which Googlebot follows the links to your pages, but monthly seems very slow even for a stagnant page.
