New site, possibly playing in the sandbox, showing some trends...

Admittedly, I've been away from the forums a while. Having said that, there's simply too much to simply "know" about Google and it's activities.

I launched a new site back in late July. Starting on October 1st and going through October 4th, GoogleBot came through and made some 32,000 requests.

When November 1st rolled around, GoogleBot requested more than 48,000 documents from this same site. Again, that pattern lasted through the fourth of the month.

When December began, I coulsn't help but think it may happen again. And, after pulling the logs down through last night -- also the 4th of the month -- I've seen some 53,000 requests from GoogleBot on the month.

What is perhaps more interesting is that there is no evidence of GoogleBot requesting pages on this sie ant any other time period aside from this cycle of the 1st through the 4th of the month.

In the past few weeks, the site has begun showing referrals from Google, though it is at the level of about 6% that of Yahoo's referrals and about 10% of MSN's.

Noting this trend, I have to ask -- have others seen similar behavior? What are the collective thoughts on this?
