Page titles and descriptions not showing

using the "site:" command

I did a "site:ourdomain.com" search to check on which pages were listed in Google for one of our sites.

Worryingly, not a single page has either a Title, or description in the returned results.

All I'm getting is a list of page URLs. E.g

www.oursite.com/page1.html
www.oursite.com/page2.html
www.oursite.com/page2.html, etc

But nothing else appears.

Is this symptomatic of an indexing problem?

I've tried the same search on a dozen other websites and I can't replicate the results.

I should also mention that the missing titles and descriptions are also evident in the general SERPS.
