When is a cache not a cache?

Went to a site that happened to be down, so off to Google to check their cache, and the page wouldn't come up.

Now if it was stored in their database as "cache" implies, why did nothing come up?

an IFrame?
a frame?
a conditional onload javascript?
sneaky flash?
the page really a huge ol gif?
one dead image spoiling the load?

Try a View Source on the cached page.
A site I put up for a charity has a paid domain name which forwards to a free ISP - a really neat way not to waste money!

The URL forwarding is done with a 100% frame, where the frame content is the free ISP. There's a noframes section with a link to click on.
The frameset, then, is almost empty.

Because of the extra HTML that Google puts round the page, none of this actually functions, and all I see is a white screen.
View Source, though, lets me see inside and find the link to the page in question....

View source is certainly a good suggestion. Also consider switching off javascript. I've had to modify scipts to make the cache display work.
