Missing Site - Follow up

This post is a follow-up from a previous.

Our domain went missing totally from Google a couple of months ago for no apparent reason.

As far as I am aware, we were not banned as the PR tool was not greyed out, just at 0.

I had tried to email Google over 20 times about this and just get the automated reply, not a real reply to my questions.

Possible breakthrough! ...

Today I did a search “allinurl:www.widgets.co.uk”, and it returned the following result (amongst others) -

http/www.widgets.co.uk/

Similar pages

As you will see, the URL is http/www.widgets.co.uk. If you click on the link, the address is [http...]

Very strange. I am assuming that Google has an error in their database and in fact should not have the leading http/. This may explain why all of the pages have disappeared.

I would be grateful if anyone could give their advice on this, as since we have dropped from the SERPS, our overall business had dropped by 28%.

And has anyone had experience of emailing Google? I have sent over 30 emails regarding this and all I get is the usual auto-reply.

Can I telephone them?

They will never give you a real answere, they cant say anything about there algo. and now they are also on NASDAQ things are even worse, so wait it out, I do think they have some trouble right now.

We are having the same problem, we disappeared completely last Saturday from Google. Even for our trademark.

Though every once in a while we suddenly appear but what is stranger is that the page showing as our home page was only available between April 1, 2004 and April 4, 2004.

I emailed them Monday, no response yet.

Hopefully this gets resolved soon. I've had to increase our AdWords spending 10X and still not even the same.

endomorph1 - I'm quite probably way off mark, but could it be that somehow from all the links to your site Google recognizes only one, and that link (if you look at its html code) is in the form [http...]

I've seen badly formatted urls in the index before. The first time I noticed this, I was able to detect that it was the result of badly written html code on one of our pages (we actually tried to link to [oursite.com<br>...] ), resulting in a SERP result:

[oursite.com%3Cbr%3E...]

My guess is that someone has linked to your site incorrectly, and this result is showing up just as any other URL gbot finds and has yet to index.

I experienced the same thing on some non-index pages endomorph1. It cleared up on its own after 2 months. I would have been raising cain if it were the index page. I have seen Google carrying pages with the double slash and single slash plus truncated http. Some of the pages are and aren't listed properly. Have you changed hosting recently?

I have the exact same problem. I disappeared from google some days ago, after being there for about two weeks, and got my PR 1.

Now im nowhere to be seen on google :-( and my PR is 0.

I also noticed that the site count is dropping slightly every 2-3 days, I was at 2500 2 weeks ago, now it 298, but I still dont think it is a ban, because there is nothing to ban and Google says that nothing outside the site can mess with rankings.

What is Supplemental Result, i dont think I have seen that before, it is just before the cache in the description

There has been lots of talk about the supplemental results and what they might be. Lets talk effects.

One of my sites has over 5000 pages in Google's index according to the site:www.mysite.com command. However a vast majority of these are marked as supplemental results. The reason for this being that the site, due to on-site factors involving back/forward links have virtually thousands of duplicate pages. (We are working on a way to improve the urls for these pages.)

Now. When using Googles AdSense for Search, a service that doesn't use the supplemental pages, Google only searches about 337 pages on the site.

This effect will be noticed also when searching from Google. In the rare instances that any of the supplemental pages actually make it to a visible spot, it is represented with URL only. But that only happens when I'm searching for the site name.

No, what if the only few pages that have unique content, and still are known to Google in the "real" index gets duplicated by a site with better PR? My guess is that the site would be in bad trouble...

Things are realy messed up this time, so many great sites in trouble maybe just because Google has added all the sites they could find and bad spidering above it all, it must be possible for a SE as Google to see that sites with domain name mydomain.com is the only site and if others have a site mydoman.blabla.com it has nothing to do with the real site.

Another thing my site count had droped sharp and now I dont get ANY visits from Google, I do hope you with the same trouble with your sites about missing description and lost ranking dont come in this situation.

maybe it is time to focus fully on MSN and make only dynamic pages

Google is not just A search engine it is THE search engine and in this global manopoly position it has the power to make or break any site it sees fit to. Currently, it unfortunatly seems, the break list is very, very long.

Loss of SERPS = Loss of about £5,000 business a month

Do Google accept personal visitors?

I am thinking of saying to my boss, look fly me out to go and see them and get this sorted (at company expense of course) and your turnover will be up again.

Breaking News!

After 167 emails to Google, the site has re-appeared, all pages as before, and still have the same PR.

No email from Google yet though apologising for the error or letting me know that the fault has been rectified.

I wounder if this was becuase of my letters sent just before Christmas saying that I wanted to come over to the US to see the engineering dept to discuss the matter?

I have a page that has been listed for some time and still has it's PR but has completly dissappeared from Google. If I search the title of the article Google brings up the the contents page for the general topic as I have a link there with the title. It's a mystery to me why the page is gone. I wonder if I link it from the root level index of the site if Google will find it again.

My site disappeared as well some time ago. And nothing could be found on google, not even by site:www.widgets.com were there any results. I read in this or another thread, to send Google a reinclusion request, and so I did.

I wrote that i had made some changes to my site, and I fully lived up to the guidelines (never made any changes) 2 days after i got a mail saying it was forwarded to their dev department, and 2 days after, my site was once again in the index...

I did some more digging into why the page Imentioned has disappeared from google and it did indeed have a bad link to it. I don't understand how Google even picks it up the URL instead of just a dead link. Fortunately though it was an external link I was able to get fixed. Hopefully the page will get back in in a few days.
