Put yourself into their shoes for a second:

A couple of years ago Brett and others suggested to add a PAGE per day to keep everybody happy.

And now? "Hey guys, I just did 96 new sites with 2 gazillion auto-generated garbage pages, and guess what? Those Google-Guys won't let me rank. I deserve it. I know the content is cool, because I ripped it off some other good ranking site." (or because it is a really good datafeed from on of the big guys)

How many sites that are really interesting to the world could a single person maintain? Be honest. One, maybe two?

But we all have to maintain 3000 sites so we can pull off some cool linking stuff. This leads to watering down the whole web to an extent where people will stop searching at all and stick to the few pages they know. I think the only way to discourage the creation of those sites is to "not let them rank".

Everybody here problably has a site or two that is old enough to rank. Want the world to see your honest content? Put it up there, it will rank. There's not much risk really interesting content will go unnoticed.

But many of these discussions seems to be about "I DESERVE THAT THE TEMPLATE DRIVEN 100.000 page site I set up yesterday will rank #1 tomorrow so I'm a millionaire by christmas.
