How long will it take for my website to get unpenalized?

I bought a brand new domain name in July. I started getting it on the search engines, lets say the beginning of August. Just assume everything is optimized perfectly. I have a pagerank of 5. Google shows 22 backlinks, altavista shows 200 backlinks, msn shows about 105 backlinks, yahoo shows 140 backlinks.

I know I am sandboxed, I can't rank for anything. I have to optimize for non targeted keywords in order to gain some exposure from google, which is not much. Yahoo stinks too, but lets just focus on Google.

How long do I have to wait to get out of this sandbox, from your past experiences? Its been 6 months already, and still, my ranking is nowhere in the index of Google, except for really obscure keywords which only get 50-100 searches a day.

No one knows. Some people believe this is Google's strategy for more ad revenue. If this is the case, you may never come out.

Some believe that their systems are broken and just can't run results on new sites very well. If this is the case, who knows. Either they will fix it or shareholders will find out and Google will be where HotBot is.

Whats the point of adding 4 billion more pages to Google's index if you can't rank on their engines anyway.

From my personal experience I have to support bear's 2nd point: I got a page into Google in September, it was indexed quickly pu still has no ranking...
