First post here in a while... I've got a site that I put up to promote a specific product we sell. A few months ago we noticed the PR had gone up to 5, which is more than our main site and aall other sites we have. The only problem being that we are on page 12 on the SERPS!
Being so busy, I have only really this week had a chance to look into this. First thing I did was to have a look at the pages above us in the SERPS. Not a great deal to tell, most of the sites were of poor quality and not much relevance. I then looked at the backlinks and found that there were only 12, and the best of which only had a PR of 3-4. So I can't understand why I have a PR5. The site is very relevant for its keywords... In fact its probably the most relevant site for its key/search words and phrases around.
Our main site also has this product featured on it, with a PR of 4, and thats even on Page 6... Any suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated.
Nowadays Google shows just a few backlinks, and not necessarily the most relevant ones.
In addition, PR is just one of several factors for a good performance in the SERPS. Consider keyword density, title, description tag, internal linking, etc.,etc.
