Have the same importance to link to files EXE PDF or ZIP like if it was files HTML or PHP? does to link those files EXE PDF or ZIP affect my pagerank?

That happens if some links of those it failed, and was an error page shown 404 on the other hand? would this affect my PAGERANK?

I want to know about relevance of links to EXE PDF and ZIP files.
