I was wondering if anyone else had experienced this (and perhaps knows the cause).
We've been working pretty hard on our linking campaign, and noticed a curious result in the google serps every now and then.
Lately, when a site links to us, sometimes a few days later the page they linked to us from appears in the serps at the exact place our site HAD been. This continues until the next "update (or shift, or recalulation, or whatever it is we're calling it these days - usually 7-10 days later) when our site returns to that spot.
I know it has to be some kind of glitch, because everytime it happens, our company name appears in the snippet of the site's description that replaces us.
Not a major problem...but it is a bit annoying.
Anyone else encounter this?
Besides that I have seen positions fall and disappear to be replaced by affiliates such as bizrate etc . .
Other pages that have aquired mutliple links in a period of time, actually fall for a period of time before returning to their original position and then move up.
My directory submissions rank higher than the original site. Seems the PR passing to the linked to site takes ages.
And when I link to some other sites, I usually come higher in the SERPS for a month or two.
