How much time does it take to google to remove a site not responding?

Hello,
i'm experiencing network troubles at my isp, and my site is not responding. Since google visit my site daily and will get an error page..... how much downtime does it take to google to consider a site dead and remove it from its index? The site has 8000 pages indexed and is in there since a year.

If you have external links to the site Google will keep returning. I have a really naff server at the mo, it's all I can afford. I haven't had that much of a problem, only self inflicted ones.
