Also, why are the results differ between google.com and google.co.uk. For instance for search 'uk kw1 kw2' on google.com a uk hosted and .co.uk domain site comes in at no. 190, but on google.co.uk in comes in at 308.

I know its not helping but any site shown further than page 2 is not going to get much traffic, AFAIK 98% of clicks come from first 2 pages, so 190 is as good as 308 :)
