Page Rank Question

I don't understand!

Hi guys!

Today I found out that I actually have a page rank for the first time! Excellent, I was very happy.
However, what I don't understand is that my index page still has a PR=0. My products page has PR=2 and one level down PR=1.
How figure? All links to my site (there are only a few) link directly to my index page.

How does this work?

I'd wait another couple of weeks as G is a bit slow in applying PR everywhere.
