Does it make a different to Google if other sites are linking to my site using my IP address (href="http://222.222.22.22") rather than using my domain name (href="http://www.domain.com")? do those IP links still counts for my site?

Good question....but I don't know the answer either.

Why would you want to do this?

I assume you only have one site using that IP address? In other words, the website is an IP-based site rather than name-based...

I sure can't think of any good reason to do this. Normally you would want every IBL pointing to the same page (for a specific set of keywords). You don't want to split your IBL's among [domain.com,...] [domain.com,...] and [domain.com...] as this will water down your link popularity and IBL's. Point to your IP address and you could potentially have 6 "home pages" diluting the value of your IBL's.

This doesn't answer your question, but I still wouldn't do it.

long long story... but i will try to make it as short as possible

the company is a reseller for widgetA and the maker of widgetAX... widgetAX will not work without widgetA.

the company wants to start pushing direct sale of widgetAX away from itself... dishing it out to other resellers who also sells widgetA... The catch is that the boss wants to KEEP as much widgetA sale as possible at the same time...

part of the plan include having resellers link back to the company site for live demo of widgetAX, at the same time takecare to NOT come off as competing with other resellers on widgetA (although in reality, we are)... hoping to hide the company name from users who came from a reseller's site if possible....

I am doing some research on all the possible pros/cons/heads-up/pit-falls on this new business direction as pertaining to SEO and web-marketing...

any help would be greatly appreciated
