I have a fairly new site - last month google spidered 2 pages and left. I could find it if I directly searched my domain but no other way in google. it had no pagerank.
This week google spidered 40 pages.
I checked pagerank on my site (all 0) .
I have been entering myself in directories all over and because of the nature of my site I have linked to a few specialised search engines made some link partners but i was more concerned with content relevance than pagerank.
after doing a surf of me and some of those linking to me as well as some who I link to, using the google toolbar, I find quite a variety of pageranks ranging from 0 - 6 . My whole site is 0.
Do I wait for a bit? Is there some stage I am waiting for google to determine my pagerank or am I in serious trouble here?

Nothing to worry about. PR was last updated June 22 so you should expect to have a PR 0 until they decide to update PR again.

Hi

New sites may be taking a longtime.. 6 months? to start ranking well. The theory is called sandbox, do a google search for site:www.webmasterword.com sandbox and your'll find all the posts, mostly in google news section of this forum.

Sandbox may or may not exist, its just a theory. A good suggestion was that new links in to a site take time to mature, in otherwords their pr is not forwarded until they have been there for a while.

The pagerank tool is not giving accurate pr imho. It is way out of date, you may well have pr but it does not show. Get on theme links in and keep building great content :)

Karens,

Nobody really knows for sure when PR will be updated again. Quarterly is one guess, in which case they will update it any day now.

well i feel abit better now
how do you check pagerank? just use the google toolbar?
google has finally been gobbling up my site lately.
came back today for another 25 hits
I did make some mistakes at first but lukily I cleaned things up a bit.
oh well I'm really trying to get in DMOZ but they seem to be very demanding. I suppose if I can impress them google will also be impressed.

Reid: I have a site that is one month old, has 1800 backlinks and 40000 unique visitors in total. Still ranks PR0. But getting pretty good results in the SERPS (above several PR7 & 8 sites for the same search term).

My guess is that google is still calculating PR, but not showing it to the public (in the toolbar).
