Inbound links Vs traffic ( click through rate)

Could this possibly trigger off a filter or ban?

I have a site that is ranked nos. 1 for almost all possible keywords and combinations with in its target market. This is a small niche sector that is rapidly growing (30%) each year and the competition for the top slot is beginning to be fiercely fought over especially now by the corps. My main key phrase within the sector returns just 224.000 pages and pulls in 10% of traffic. Site traffic currently averages 350 unique visitors per day.

This particular site has over 445 inbound links from related sites of which 80% are PR5 and above. I have built up this link base over the past 2 years and I make sure that the sites I exchange links with (30%) are clean and do not use link exchange programs or link to link farms.

One side of me thinks that I should keep up the link marketing at the same rate to ward off the competition. The other side of me says slow down you might trigger off a filter at worst a ban.

Can anyone support the claim that having a low volume of traffic with a high level of inbound links can trigger off a ban?
