Any reason why title should not have £ in it?

I would like to have the title of some of my pages saying:

blue widgets from £10 pp

Could I be penalised in any way for doing this? Or could the page be treated any differently by google because it has a £ sign in it.

Yes, this is a good idea if you have a lot of competitive products, you can use this to let your customers know you are the cheapest etc.
We use this on lots of our pages and it does help produce sales if you have an ecommerce site.

Interesting to see if it would convert better in the title or in the snippet.

If G can’t see £ then the title would look to G like:

'From' and especially '10' would also be a waste of valuable space.

Google wants commercial sites to invest in Adwords. Might explain why they have dropped currency symbols.

Who says Google can't see £?

Search for "allintitle:price 99", you will see listings with $, £ and Euro symbols. Google shows them, no problem.

You can't search for $ sign but it is display on Search Results which make a distinction that would easily capture a visitor EYEBALLS! and increase the chances of him/her clicking on your link.

So for god sake, USE IT!

I'd say .... no .... and although I was here for the first time that conspiracy theory was vomited onto the WebmasterWorld forum - it still does not hold any weight.

One problem that hasn't been raised so far is Google's current "stale" results. This would mean that if you ever changed the price of your product from £10, you could end up with having the offer in Google at £10 for a couple of months after you change the price.

There is nothing more off-putting to a potential customer than seeing an ad for one price and then finding out its more when they get to the shop ....

I've seen £ sounds working fine - i'd also hazard a guess that they might even increase your CTR.
