I'm looking for some help/advice from anyone who might have experienced a situation such as mine.
I have a website with a PR5, listed in Yahoo and DMOZ. I want my page to be listed on the first page of results on google for keywords that are present in my URL itself.
Currently, I'm at like no. 19 with over 10 of the sites above me being Newspaper websites such as Chicago Tribune, Herald Sun news etc. An article might contain my keywords just once, but they'reranked higher than me.
I'm guessing these sites have many more incoming links than mine and thats why they're higher than me? My question is, how can I try to get my site to rank above large news websites? Is working on incoming links the best way?
Wondering if anyone's experienced a situation like this?
