Forum Moderators: open
However, I read that the search engines may not index the links properly. (Because of sessions?)
Will a rewite be able to solve this problem? And what if I'm not using an Apache server?
Anyway, I'm not much of a programmer. If someone could just point me in the right direction to find out how to tackle this problem I'll be grateful.
Or is there a CMS that will saves all my touble?
But have a look att [mamboserver.com...]
Open Source, runs on Apache servers with PHP and MySQL
Do find something which supports templates. Most of the CMS authors are pretty clueless about SEO and you'll end up having to tweak. Tweaking templates is better than tweaking html embedded in code.
My home machine (PC) runs Apache 2.0 and mysql, so I tested quite a few CMS before concluding that Mambo suited me best.
When you look at PHPNuke, you might think - wow - look at all those modules they have to support the application. Even with all the bells and whistles, Mambo seems more flexible.
It depends on what you want to do - for example Mambo does not have an integrated Forum yet. They are also struggling with XML being up to standards. All that being said, it makes my life easier.
1) I want to have a member sign in area.
2) Members can acess downloads
3) Anone can upload pictures
4) Members can comment and rate on these pictures
4) I have a quiz page where I would like to allow members to answer the questions by posting. The admin can 'mark' the questions. eg:
Question: How old do u think I am?
Wierd Guy's answer: 5 years old
Admin's Answer: Wrong
(click for comments on this answer)
Strange Guy's answer: 6 years old
Admin's Answer: Wrong also
(click for comments on this answer)
etc......
5) Able to show the total number of people online at my site at all times. I know php/nuke can do this but how do they count the number of people online? The php/nuke generated pages would probably count for only half of all my pages on the site, the other half will probably be static. Qestion will the people surfing the static pages will be counted also?
Thank, i'm really quite new in this so i don't really know what to do. My site is up and ready but I want to implememt the CMS, I don't know if it is possible to keep the same design with the CMS. If you are interested, pls pm me for my web adress.
