Getting a new site listed on Google

How long does it take for Google to crawl pages on a new static site and for the pages to show up?

Is there a holding area (url) that indicates what Google is going or not going to list?

Thanks

3-5 days from my experience, assuming you linked to the new site from another site that is currently listed in google so google had a way to find it. Your results may vary, easy to check by copy and pasting in a few sentences from new site into google with "sentence" [include quotes], when your new site comes up it's indexed.

Hi Isitreal

Thanks for the reply.

I currently have no other sites linked to my site. In your experience, how long does it take to get pages indexed on Google if this is the case.

Many thanks

there is no better way to get listed than by getting a link to your site, it doesn't matter what site links to you as long as that site is indexed by google.

Many years ago I tried getting listed by submitting, it never happened until I got a link up to my site. So my experience is useless, my guess though would be 2 months after submitting, if then.

Site submission is a waste of time, although it doesn't hurt to do it.

Just find someone with a google indexed site and have them link to you, it doesn't matter what page, how many pages, or anything else, as long as there is a link to you. search engines work off of links, it's how they spider the web.

Ya, I second isitreal's comments. My experience has been that having a site that's crawled often link to your new site works quickly. That being said, I've never done a user submit to G. I've never really felt the need though since G crawls sites that I link to quick enough for my needs.
