Goggle Showing Meta Description in Results

Is this new or how long is it being going on?

Hello All,

Just saw a few SERPs on G and all the results were showing Meta Desciption. Strange, first time I have seen Google importance to Meta Description. Is Meta Description back.

Google shows the META description when it matches the search phrase, otherwise it uses a snippet from the page content.
