A journalism website has done an informal analysis of "Google News" and discovered an interesting pattern:

Although Google spiders more than 7,000 news sources, only about a dozen sources account for the vast majority of stories displayed on Google News day to day, and two of those predominant sources are owned and operated by the U.S. and Chinese governments.

With Microsoft working on their own news aggrigator (and already has been discovered favoring their own websites) is web news headed the way of news in other broadcast mediums and crowding out the independents?
