Will directory level redirection get us banned?

Hi,

we are currently reorganising our site heirarchy from top to bottom. We would like to rediect links at the directory level,so say, all links within a given directory were directed to the new directory level.

Obviously thats easy enough to do in Apache - the question is - will that type of redirection get us banned from search engines like google?

We only wish to do it whilst our links are respidered into the new structure, and not to replicate content.

thanks for your responses.

Hiya,

Make sure you use a 301 redirect (permenant redirect) and page rank etc will be passed over as well as allowing users who had bookmarked pages and referrals from search engines to find the right page.
